In September 1848, Eugène Delacroix (French, 1798–1863) Retreated To His Country House To Escape The Turmoil Of Post-Revolutionary Paris. There He Created A Group Of Flower Paintings From Life, Meant For The Salon Of 1849. Because Of The Possibility Of Frost, He Worked Quickly And Produced Five Canvases.
