Presented On An Elegant Easel, This Lacquered-Wood Plaque Features A Loving Detail From Francesco Granacci’S (Francesco Di Andrea Di Marco) (Italian, 1469–1543) Madonna And Child (Ca. 1520) In The Met Collection. The Composition Appears To Have Been Inspired By A Sculpture In Low Relief—Most Likely By Either Donatello Or Michelangelo, With Whom Granacci Was A Fellow Pupil In The Workshop Of Ghirlandaio—But The Artist Has Augmented The Picture By Depicting Both Figures Bathed In Natural Light.
