Art Ornaments Inspired By The Met Collection.
The Adoring Scene On This Ornament Comes From Madonna And Child With Saints Francis And Dominic And Angels, A Spectacular Altarpiece By Giulio Cesare Procaccini (Italian, 1574–1625) In The Met’S European Paintings Collection. Saints And Angels Envelop Mother And Child In This Tightly Woven Image That Borrows Parmigianino’S Flickering Paint Surfaces And Ludovico Carracci’S Anatomical Contortions. Procaccini Began His Career As A Sculptor, But Re-Established Himself As A Painter In Milan By 1610. This Exuberant Work Was Likely Commissioned By The Spanzotta Family Around 1612.
